Appreciate Your Circumstances
I was a little hesitant to address this today, but I think almost everyone could use this some time in their life. Understanding your situation in relation to God's plan for you is something you may never figure out. The true blessing is that you don't need to understand. He understands you and your situation. All you need to do is follow Him. Pray, meditate, worship, witness, share, and serve.
One thing that you hear a lot of in this world is complaining. While human suffering is a very real thing here on earth, there is a broad divide between the people who suffering and the people who complain. While some people might complain about not being able to get their favorite food when they want it, there are others out there with legitimate reason to complain that will never say a word about it. While some are appreciative for a crust of bread, there are those that would complain about getting the entire loaf of bread. Moses was no stranger to complainers and seemed to have a large flock of them. In Numbers 11 when God gave them manna, the people complained and wished for the fish and other foods they had while slaves in Egypt. While probably wasn't the greatest tasting thing they ever ate, God provided them with what they needed to survive. People complained so much that it made Moses asked God why he had to carry such a great burden in caring for the Israelites. God's answer to Moses in Number 11:16-17,
“Gather before me seventy men who are recognized as elders and leaders of Israel. Bring them to the Tabernacle to stand there with you. I will come down and talk to you there. I will take some of the Spirit that is upon you, and I will put the Spirit upon them also. They will bear the burden of the people along with you, so you will not have to carry it alone. And say to the people, ‘Purify yourselves, for tomorrow you will have meat to eat. You were whining, and the Lord heard you when you cried, “Oh, for some meat! We were better off in Egypt!” Now the Lord will give you meat, and you will have to eat it. And it won’t be for just a day or two, or for five or ten or even twenty. You will eat it for a whole month until you gag and are sick of it. For you have rejected the Lord, who is here among you, and you have whined to him, saying, “Why did we ever leave Egypt?”’”.
Moses gathered the 70 leaders and God gave the 70 the same Spirit that He had given Moses. Then the Lord sent quail to the camp where the people caught quail all day and night. Then people gorged themselves on the quail and it made God angry, so he struck those who gorged themselves with a severe plague. Many died and they named the place "Graves of Gluttony".
God doesn't want you to complain when you suffer and he does not want you to take your blessing for granted. Praise Him for the manna and the quail. Praise Him when you are at your worst, when you are showered with blessing, and every situation in between. Pray to Him for everything.
