One of the songs I've been enjoying the most over the last year or so is "So Will I (100 Billion X)" by Hillsong United. It is truly a beautiful song in not only the music itself and the arrangement, but the lyrics really speak to me. The first time I heard it had me thinking, billions of stars, planet, and other object exist out there along with billions of people, animals, etc. and God still took the time to not only create me but love us all. The fact that it is all designed and created by God is mind-boggling. God created us knowing our sinful nature and still created everything around us for us and His glory.
As a child of God, I think everyone should be in awe of God's creations. The marvelous things around us have no end. You only need to open your eyes and look around or listen to the sounds around you. The beauty of nature itself is something everyone should thank God for. Things we take for granted such as the colors of changing season or the sounds of rain on a peaceful night, are all things we should thank Him for. Have you ever seen the smile on the face of a child when they first really notice the stars? Have you noticed that on a bad day seeing someone smile will change your perspective? Thank God for each experience like that. They are his gifts to us.
Realize that the planets spinning around the sun at such a perfect distance allow life on this planet. Without fail, we wake up daily with this planet still in the right orbit around the sun with the perfect conditions for life. Stars keep the sky lit. Yes, Earth is our temporary home, but take note that He created this and thank him for it. Just don't get too attached, we are just visiting and will one day answer for our sins. The good news is that we decide if we want to serve Him or be damned for all eternity. Accept God's love, confess your sins and put your sins aside, declare that Jesus is your Lord and Savior, and be counted as one of God's children for all eternity. Give him praise for the gifts he has given us. Like the song says, "...if creation still obeys You So Will I!"
Some good references to the song are:
Genesis 1:1-26
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.
Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. Then he separated the light from the darkness. God called the light “day” and the darkness “night.”
And evening passed and morning came, marking the first day.
6Then God said, “Let there be a space between the waters, to separate the waters of the heavens from the waters of the earth.” And that is what happened. God made this space to separate the waters of the earth from the waters of the heavens. God called the space “sky.”
And evening passed and morning came, marking the second day.
Then God said, “Let the waters beneath the sky flow together into one place, so dry ground may appear.” And that is what happened. God called the dry ground “land” and the waters “seas.” And God saw that it was good. Then God said, “Let the land sprout with vegetation—every sort of seed-bearing plant, and trees that grow seed-bearing fruit. These seeds will then produce the kinds of plants and trees from which they came.” And that is what happened. The land produced vegetation—all sorts of seed-bearing plants, and trees with seed-bearing fruit. Their seeds produced plants and trees of the same kind. And God saw that it was good.
And evening passed and morning came, marking the third day.
Then God said, “Let lights appear in the sky to separate the day from the night. Let them be signs to mark the seasons, days, and years. Let these lights in the sky shine down on the earth.” And that is what happened. God made two great lights—the larger one to govern the day, and the smaller one to govern the night. He also made the stars. God set these lights in the sky to light the earth, to govern the day and night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good.
And evening passed and morning came, marking the fourth day.
Then God said, “Let the waters swarm with fish and other life. Let the skies be filled with birds of every kind.” So God created great sea creatures and every living thing that scurries and swarms in the water, and every sort of bird—each producing offspring of the same kind. And God saw that it was good. Then God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply. Let the fish fill the seas, and let the birds multiply on the earth.”
And evening passed and morning came, marking the fifth day.
Then God said, “Let the earth produce every sort of animal, each producing offspring of the same kind—livestock, small animals that scurry along the ground, and wild animals.” And that is what happened. God made all sorts of wild animals, livestock, and small animals, each able to produce offspring of the same kind. And God saw that it was good.
Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground.”
Colossians 1:15
Christ is the visible image of the invisible God.
He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation,
for through him God created everything
in the heavenly realms and on earth.
He made the things we can see
and the things we can’t see—
such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world.
Everything was created through him and for him.
He existed before anything else,
and he holds all creation together.
